T3 Code brings several AI coding agents into one interface while keeping execution with the computer that owns the project. If your work moves between a desktop and a phone, that distinction matters: the screen can move without moving the repository or its running tools.
This Code Lab guide explains T3 Code through its documentation and source, checked November 8, 2026. It is a repository review, not a benchmark or a hands-on remote-session test.
What is T3 Code?
The README describes an open-source control surface for coding agents, with web, Electron desktop, iOS and Android clients. It lists Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Grok Build, OpenCode, Google Antigravity and fx integrations. At least one supported provider must be installed or configured and authenticated on the host; the interface does not supply a model subscription by itself.
Think of three layers: the client you look at, the server that owns the workspace, and the provider that performs the coding work. Choosing a shared interface does not make the providers identical.
How the client-server architecture works
The architecture guide assigns provider processes, terminals, Git and project files to the server. Clients communicate through authenticated RPC, while shared connection state lives in a client-runtime package. Provider-specific behavior sits behind adapters.
| Layer | Responsibility |
|---|---|
| Desktop, browser or phone | Present the conversation and controls |
| Workspace server | Own files, Git operations, terminals and provider processes |
| Provider adapter | Translate provider-specific behavior into shared operations |
This helps explain a practical limit: opening the mobile client does not put your repository on the phone. The workspace host still needs to be available.
Inside the source: listing provider instances
This five-line TypeScript excerpt comes from ProviderAdapterRegistry.ts at commit 25bf84a. It is part of a larger registry definition.
instances.listInstances supplies the available instances. The outer Effect.map transforms the result; the inner array mapping returns each instanceId. The output is a common identifier list rather than provider-specific UI data.
That is a small example of the adapter boundary. It does not prove that every provider has the same capabilities or that a particular integration succeeds at runtime.

Getting started with T3 Code
Start with the project’s installation guide and choose the desktop or command-line route for your operating system. Set up one provider first, then use a small disposable project to check that sessions, edits and Git changes behave as expected.
For a first evaluation, keep the goal narrow: ask the agent to explain a function, make one reversible change, and inspect the resulting diff. Add another provider only after the first path works. This is a proposed evaluation workflow, not a test completed for this article.
Remote access has a host-side requirement
The remote-access guide says the host must remain running and reachable. T3 Connect can connect devices without router forwarding, but signing in alone does not start a server. The guide also describes different background-service behavior on Windows versus Linux and macOS.
Before depending on a remote workflow, check the host’s actual running state and the selected environment. A reachable interface and a completed agent task are separate observations.
Which release should you read?
The release listing checked for this article included nightly 0.1.8-nightly.20261107.4327. A nightly is a development snapshot; consult the release history for the channel appropriate to your installation. The README explicitly describes the project as early and warns readers to expect bugs.
T3 Code FAQ
Is T3 Code a new AI model?
No. It is an interface and orchestration layer around supported coding providers.
Does the source excerpt show tested performance?
No. It shows how one list operation is expressed in the inspected source. Responsiveness and provider reliability require a separate test.
